Advanced Learner Loans

If you are starting a Level 3, Level 4 or Level 5 course you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. These loans help you to pay the tuition fees charged by the Havering Adult College. It is easy to apply and you won’t have to pay anything back until your income is over £25,000 a year.

You cannot include the cost of the resources for your course in the loan amount.

To qualify you must be:

  • Aged 19 or over on the first day of your course (there is no upper age limit)
  • Living in the UK on the first day of your course and have lived in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for three years immediately before this
  • Studying with a College in England approved for public funding
  • Enrolling on an eligible course at Level 3, 4 and 5, however course eligibility is subject to change

The tuition fee for your course will be set by the Havering Adult College and they will confirm the cost before you enrol. This will include the £3 college administration fee which will have to be paid separately at the time of enrolment.

For learners studying Level 3 or above who have taken out a loan, there is the facility for support to be put in place using these monies.

The minimum loan amount is £300. You can take out a loan for the maximum amount to cover the tuition fee or you can pay all or part of the tuition fee yourself. Instalments are available if you choose to pay part of the course fee yourself, the minimum amount for instalments is £150.

Early Bird discount does not apply to those applying for an Advanced Learner Loan.
