If you are starting a Level 3, Level 4 or Level 5 course, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner LoanThese loans help you to pay the tuition fees charged by the Havering Adult College.  It is easy to apply and you will not have to pay anything back until your income is over the repayment threshold You cannot include the cost of the resources for your course in the loan amount.

 

It is easy to apply, your household income isn’t taken into account and there is no credit check.  You won’t have to pay anything back until your income is over the repayment threshold.  Find out more at www.gov.uk/repaying-your-student-loan

 

Once approved for your course, you will be issued with a letter outlining how to apply for your loan.

Loans are available to eligible learners who are: 

  • aged 19 or older on the first day of starting their designated loans funded qualification 
  • studying with a provider situated in England, with a provider in receipt of a loan agreement from us  
  • studying one or more designated loans qualifications at levels 3, 4, 5, or 6  

 

Whether you qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan depends on your: 

  • age 
  • course 
  • nationality or residency status 

 

On receipt of a learner’s loan application, Student Loans Company (SLC) is responsible for assessing whether a learner is eligible. 

The tuition fee for your course will be set by the Havering Adult College and will confirm the cost before you enrol. 

The minimum loan amount is £300 You can take out a loan for the maximum amount to cover the tuition fee or you can pay all or part of the tuition fee yourselfAn instalment plan is available if you choose to pay part of the course fee yourselfThe minimum amount for instalments is £150.

Once you have attended your pre-course interview with the teacher, you will be advised on how to apply online. You can get further details on how to apply from our website or from www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans  

  1. Payment (cash, credit/debit card) 
  2. Evidence of ID 

You will need to produce photo ID – see below for examples: 

Photo ID – This must bear your photo and your name

  • Current passport 
  • Current photo driving licence 
  • Workplace photo ID card 
  • Freedom Pass 
  • Travel card ID 

The Student Loans Company (SLC) will pay your agreed tuition fees monthly to Havering Adult College once they have confirmed your attendance on the course. 

You can take up to four loans in total. Terms and Conditions apply. 

If you withdraw from your course early without completing, Havering Adult College will seek to recover any outstanding fees from you and you will be liable to the Student Loans Company to pay the part of the loan you took out.
