Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Adult Course

The course is for everyone aged 16 and upwards and you don’t need any qualifications or experience in mental health to take part. The course is delivered over two or four sessions, you will need to attend all sessions to receive MHFA accreditation. The course covers the following topics: What is mental health? How to reduce the stigma of mental health. You will learn about suicide, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm and psychosis. Each session you will learn techniques to spot the early signs of a mental health issue, gain confidence helping someone experiencing a mental health issue, provide help on a first aid basis and prevent someone from hurting themselves or others. You will learn how to help stop a mental health issue from getting worse and how to help someone recover faster and guide them towards the right support. We are happy to deliver this course externally for groups of eight or more.

In Person – No appointment is necessary but please check our opening hours before coming along. You will be able to enrol at our Bower Park or Brittons Centres. You will need to bring along your payment, ID, proof of address and proof of eligibility (if applicable) at the time of your enrolment. If you are unsure what to bring, please ring ahead for confirmation.
