Women’s History Month 2019: 5 courses exploring women’s contribution to history

As part of Women’s History Month, here at Havering Adult College, we have a selection of exciting courses to commemorate the countless achievements of women.


On ‘London History: Suffragette City – Social Activism & Movements’. discover the story of Sarah Chapman, a working-class girl from Mile End, who was among the factory workers at the Bryant & May match factory who took part in the famous Match Girls’ Strike of 1888 to secure better pay and working conditions.


She was one of more than 1,400 inspirational women who helped ignite a social revolution that changed the workplace for many more thousands across Britain.
