    An introduction into art for beginners or those wishing to revisit their artistic skills. You will look at all aspects of art with a variety of mediums to inspire your creativity.   • Art – Drawing & Painting

  • Art Appreciation

    Explore and appreciate art through the ages. You will learn about the history of art and how it has played a part in shaping the world we live in. The course will allow you to discuss different artists spanning the ages from Warrior Cults through to the contemporary art of today, how art is perceived in different contexts and develop skills to evaluate art critically. The Renaissance, Cult Art, Christian, Egyptian, Impressionist, Surrealist and more will be covered in this course. You will select and discuss a range of different artwork with your peers. This course is suitable if you are new to art history or wishing to learn more.

  • Art Appreciation on Locations

    An exploration of art taking you outside of the classroom to a live exhibition in London. Over the three-week course, you will learn about collections of art either by artists or periods in art history which will be followed by a visit to either Tate Modern, The National Gallery or the Royal Academy of Arts to experience the work up close. The final week of the course will be back in the classroom where you will cover more about the work and their place in art history. The course fees cover the ticket costs for the exhibition, however travel costs are not included.

  • Spanish Art Appreciation

    Journey through Spanish art since the cave paintings of Altamira until modern times, including Islamic art (Alhambra of Granada, mosque of Cordoba, etc.), the masters of the Baroque (El Greco, Zurbarán, Velázquez, Goya) and the modern celebs (the Picassos, Dalis and Gaudíes). There would be a strong element of Spanish history, to help understand the reasoning, styles and motivations behind the works; and an emphasis on ‘reading’ paintings, to understand their iconography, recognize different styles and understand what makes them unique and important. Some Spanish terms would also be learned.
