  • Chasing Outstanding Teaching & Learning: Advanced Practitioner Workshop

    This one-session course led by an experienced Ofsted inspector will explore the notion of what ‘good or outstanding’ teaching, learning and assessment actually looks like in action, as well as strategies to ensure an observer will see just how good you are. Available through the Havering Adult College for the first time, this hugely successful course has previously been delivered to teachers and managers at a range of local authority and Further Education colleges.     Level 3 Award in Education & Training

    This Level 3 introductory course is aimed at those considering working as a teacher in the Learning and Skills sector (post 14). This short course provides a valuable toolkit for new teachers that includes teaching roles and responsibilities, approaches to learning, assessment as well as the opportunity to undertake a small scale teaching session. You need to have a specialist subject you wish to teach, and access to ICT to produce the written work. You can progress onto either the Certificate or the Diploma in Education and Training.     Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training

    This full Level 4 course is the industry standard for teachers working in education and training. The course is delivered over one academic year on nonconsecutive Saturdays. The qualification explores planning, meeting individual learner needs, assessment, use of resources, and some philosophies of learning. In addition to formal written assignments (which need to be produced using ICT), you will also need to be observed teaching your specialist subject to your own learners a minimum of three times over the duration of the year.     Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training

    This full Level 5 course is widely recognised as the best professional development qualification for teachers working in education and training. This is a two-year course, with sessions delivered on non-consecutive Saturdays. The course covers planning, curriculum design, theories of learning, assessment, inclusive practices, delivery methods, meeting individual needs, and you will need to be observed teaching your specialist subject to your learners a minimum of eight times over the two year period.   • Stop Over-teaching and Start Challenging: Advanced Practitioner Workshop

    This one-off session is aimed at teachers working in Further, Adult and Higher education wanting to move their practice on. Exploring frequently observed pitfalls, strategies to avoid them, as well as de-mystifying the concept of stretch and challenge, this very interactive session is fun, informative and experimental. Leading by example, your teacher will demonstrate a fast-paced and immersive learning experience. This course also builds upon some of the work undertaken in “Chasing Outstanding Teaching & Learning.”
