    Level 2 Award in Safeguarding Children & Young People

    This Level 2 qualification will support you to develop a knowledge and understanding of the ways in which young people may be vulnerable to harm, abuse or exploitation in the workplace and/or learning environment. It will help you to understand the personal responsibilities required to keep young people safe, the role and responsibilities of different agencies, the legal context of safeguarding, and the national guidelines for recognising and reporting situations where young people may be at risk. This qualification is not suitable for those working with children below secondary school age, but is essential professional development for educational professionals in secondary schools and colleges. It is also an invaluable CPD opportunity for anyone working or employing young people up to the age of 25.     Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in the Classroom

    This full Level 2 course is the industry standard for those new to working in a school setting as a teaching assistant. The course will build your confidence and awareness around your role, and associated responsibilities, and will equip you with a toolkit of skills, knowledge and experiences to enable you to perform your duties professionally. You must be working in primary or secondary education (not early years) for a minimum of six hours per week (This can be on a paid or voluntary basis). You also need access to basic IT packages such as Word and PowerPoint to complete the coursework. You will be invited to a pre-course interview to determine your suitability for the course. Successful applicants will need to attend an induction session on 25th September 2018 at 19:00.

    Level 3 Certificate in Cover Supervision

    While the Level 3 Certificate in Cover Supervision includes units in common with the Level 3 Certificate and Diploma, it also includes a specialist unit on providing classroom cover. This reflects the differences between the cover supervisor and teaching assistant roles. Candidates must be school support staff, working under the direction of a teacher, with individual pupils and groups in the primary or secondary education sector. You must be working in a classroom for at least eight hours per week in a paid capacity, as we will need to observe you in the workplace. This course will explore your role and responsibilities, as well as deepen your knowledge of local and national policies and procedures, increasing your employability skills. Applicants should hold Level 2 in English and Maths, as well as have access to basic IT packages, such as Word and PowerPoint. You will be invited to a pre-course interview to ascertain suitability for the programme. Advanced Learner Loans and instalment plans are available to pay for this course. If you have already completed the Level 3 Certificate and/or Diploma, you may be exempt from some units. This can be discussed at your interview.

The course will build your confidence and awarenesss around your role and responsibilities, as well as equipping you with a range of skills, knowledge and experiences to enable you to excel in your job. You must be working in primary or secondary education (not early years), for a minimum of eight hours a week. Applicants should be confident in their use of IT (Word/PowerPoint), and will be invited to a pre-course interview to determine suitability for the course. All successful applicants will need to attend an induction session on Thursday 27th September. Advance Learner Loans and instalment plans are available to cover course fees.

    This full Level 3 Diploma course is ideal for those who have achieved the Level 2 qualification, wish to further develop their professional skills and knowledge and undertake a Level 3 course that includes additional units to those that comprise the Level 3 Certificate. The course will build your confidence and awarenesss around your role and responsibilities, as well as equipping you with a range of skills, knowledge and experiences to enable you to excel in your job. You must be working in primary or secondary education (not early years), for a minimum of eight hours a week. You should be confident in your use of IT (Word/PowerPoint), and will be invited to a pre-course interview to determine suitability for the course.   • Supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities

    This Level 1 qualification is a useful addition to a teaching assistant’s CV, and will enable you to gain a greater understanding of person-centred approaches when supporting adult learners with learning disabilities. You will explore strategies to adapt your practice to aid learning development. You will also consider effective communication, appropriate language and levels of support. This course is not suitable for those supporting in Key Stages 1-4, and is assessed through the completion of a workbook.

  • Supporting Asperger Syndrome

    This Level 2 qualification will help you develop a greater understanding of the impact of Asperger Syndrome, and how this can effect people differently.
