Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools

This is a qualification that can be taken by people who are not yet employed or volunteering in a school.  It is also suitable for those who are already employed in schools, like site staff, administrators mid-day assistants, who would like to improve their knowledge of key aspects of school life. This course will allow you to develop the knowledge and understanding that all those working in a school setting need and covers areas such as safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in schools, child and young person development, communication and understanding the wider context in which schools operate.

The units covered by the L2 Award in Support Work in Schools are shared with the L2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.  So, if you go on to secure a voluntary placement or employment in a school, you could enrol on the larger qualification later and put the five units you have achieved already towards it.  This means that you will already have 5 of the 11 units you need to achieve the L2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. The course runs over 15 sessions, delivered between October and April.  If you are interested in applying, please contact our Brittons Centre at brittonsadultcollege@havering.gov.uk for an application form.  Once this has been received, we’ll contact you to arrange an interview and short skills test.  Please note that successful applicants will need to attend an induction session on Tuesday, 25th September 2018 at 19:00.
