London History: “That’s Entertainment (‘ave a banana)” – Music Hall/Variety Theatre

This is a fascinating journey through time into the colourful origins and evolution of the legendary venues and performers that have provided ‘variety’ entertainment for the masses in ‘old London town’. You will experience a visual and aural feast for your delectation – from the ancient Roman Amphitheatre, medieval bear-baiting pits, Shakespearian playhouses, Victorian music halls and 20th century grand variety theatres. You won’t just focus on the stars of the stage; you will discover street musicians as well. You will be the judge on whether the superstars and bizarre speciality acts of yesteryear would get through an audition today. The course includes two trips to London. The costs of travel and any entry fees are not included in the course fees.

Full Fee: £105.00
