TEACHING ASSISTANTS

ABOUT

Becoming a teaching assistant in the UK is a rewarding path for anyone passionate about supporting children’s learning and development. If you want to work with children aged between 4-19 then the Teaching Assistant pathway is for you.

Our Teaching Assistant courses provide a strong, structured introduction to working within a school environment, equipping you with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence. You will be guided by experienced teachers with industry expertise, explore the roles and responsibilities of school staff, develop effective communication skills, and gain a solid understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and child development.

Accredited by NCFE CACHE, these qualifications provide a trusted pathway into education. A school placement is required for both Level 2 and Level 3 courses, and this can be completed through either paid work or a voluntary role.

TEACHING ASSISTANT COURSES & PROGRESSION

Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools

This course is your first step to gaining the essential skills and knowledge to work in a school setting. You’ll learn key topics to prepare you to confidently support children and young people in the classroom.

You will also gain an Entry Level 3 Award in British Values qualification.

Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning
This course equips you with the knowledge and practical skills to support teachers and help children thrive in the classroom.
Perfect for those aiming to work as teaching assistants or in other support roles, this qualification will provide you with a strong foundation in education and child development.

You will also gain an Entry Level 3 Award in British Values.

A school placement is required. This can be completed through either paid work or a voluntary role.

Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching & Learning
This qualification is ideal for those already working in or aspiring to work in more senior support roles within schools. You’ll deepen your understanding of child development, support teaching, and contribute to improving outcomes for children and young people in the classroom.

You will also gain an Entry Level 3 Award in British Values.

A school placement is required. This can be completed through either paid work or a voluntary role.

Teaching Assistant (Primary or Secondary) – Between £18,000 and £25,000.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Salaries ranging from £23,000 to £30,000.
