Fee & College Information

Fees and Administration Charge

Course fees are listed in the course details section and may include :

  • Standard full fee
  • 60+ reduced fee
  • Concessionary fee

Fees include a contribution towards examination costs, where applicable.

To be eligible for published fees and access public funding, learners must be aged 19 or over by 31st August in the academic year their course begins. Learners under this age may be subject to additional charges.

Free Courses

In order to undertake free courses at Havering Adult College, you need to be eligible for GLA or ESFA funding and reside within a postcode relative to these funding schemes.  This will be checked upon enrolment.  If you do not meet these requirements you will not be eligible to access free training with us, and will be required to pay a course fee.

Concessionary Fees

You may be eligible for concession fees on some courses if at the time of course commencement if you:

  • Receive work-related benefits
  • Earn a low wage

Eligibility is subject to providing valid evidence at enrolment. The College reserves the right to verify this status at the start of the course.

16-18 Year Old Learners' Fee

Courses are funded for learners aged 19+ only, through the Department for Education or the Greater London Authority. Learners aged 16–18 may be required to pay an enhanced fee. Eligibility for published costs and access to public funding is based on being aged 19 or over by 31st August in the academic year of course commencement.  Where this is not the case, additional charges may need to be applied.

60+ Reduced Fees

Learners aged 60 or over may qualify for reduced fees. Proof of age is required. Not all courses are eligible for 60+ fees—please check individual course listings.

International Fee

Learners who do not meet funding eligibility criteria at the point of enrolment, will be assessed by management on a case-by-case basis. The Curriculum Manager will determine the applicable course fee.

Additional Resources

Some courses may require learners to:

  • Provide their own materials
  • Pay a resource fee

Details will be provided before enrolment or prior to the course start date.

Instalments

Instalment plans are available for courses costing £150 or more, a 10% surcharge will apply. If a learner withdraws before completing the course, the full remaining balance becomes payable.

The College reserves the right to suspend assessment of learners’ work who default on payments until the outstanding balance is paid.

Examination Fees

The College subsidises examination and assessment fees by contributing towards the cost.

Resit Fees

Resit fees apply if a learner needs to retake all or part of an exam. These fees vary by course and are not included in the original course fee

Withdrawing from your course - Outstanding Debts

If you withdraw from your course early, the full course fee still applies. If you are paying by instalments or loan, the remaining balance becomes immediately payable. Refunds are not available.

If you enrolled without paying fees due to benefit entitlement or low wage status, the College would lose the public funding for your place upon withdrawal and reserves the right to invoice you for the full course fee.

You must read and understand the Terms and Conditions before enrolling. It is your responsibility to ensure that fees are paid in full and on time. The College will pursue all outstanding debts, which may result in a County Court Judgement (CCJ) and affect your credit rating for up to six years.

Refunds

Refunds are not automatically granted. In cases of unforeseen circumstances, a credit note may be issued at the discretion of College management.

If the College cancels or closes a course, learners will be offered a suitable alternative or a full refund
