Displays play a vital role in educational settings, serving as an effective medium for sharing information, celebrating achievements, and promoting values such as diversity and equality. The use of images and vibrant colours helps attract attention, making displays an engaging way to showcase students’ work. Typically, displays are updated termly to reflect current topics from the National Curriculum.

As part of the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, students were tasked with researching support services available to Havering residents, with a particular focus on health and wellbeing. The objective was to gather relevant information that could be shared with parents and carers, and to present this research in the form of a display board.

Throughout the project, students were encouraged to focus on a specific theme each week. They collaborated with peers to share findings, plan the layout and wording, and ultimately create the displays within the College. Feedback—highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement—was provided to help students develop their skills. Photographs of the completed displays were taken as evidence for their portfolios.

The final displays were installed on two large boards: one at the entrance of the Middle Block and the other next to the Office. These locations were chosen to maximise visibility and encourage engagement among students and staff. The project has sparked meaningful conversations about local services and the importance of keeping such information up to date to reflect the evolving needs of the community and funding availability.

For instance, recent discussions have highlighted upcoming changes to childcare funding set to be introduced in September by the current Labour Government—illustrating the ongoing relevance and dynamic nature of these displays.
