No One Should Go Hungry: Help Us Make a Difference
Food insecurity is a growing concern in our communities. Many people face challenges putting food on the table. At Havering Adult College, we believe in kindness, dignity, and action. That’s why we are launching a Food Donation Drive to support those in need this National Food Bank Day, on 5th September 2025.
Why Do People Need Food Banks?
People turn to food banks for many reasons. Some have lost jobs. Others are dealing with rising costs of living. Some are students or older adults on fixed incomes. Food banks help people from all backgrounds. They offer support during difficult times.
Food banks are not just about food — they are about dignity, hope, and survival.
The Hidden Toll: Mental Health and Food Insecurity
Not having enough food can cause stress and anxiety. Parents may skip meals so their children can eat. Students may struggle to focus in class. Older adults may feel isolated. Food insecurity can lead to depression and poor health. Donating food helps ease this burden.
When we donate, we’re not just giving food — we’re giving relief, comfort, and a reminder that someone cares.
A Community That Cares
This year, we are donating to the Havering Islamic Cultural Centre. One of our award-winning teachers runs a food bank. The centre also provides a soup kitchen that supports everyone in need—no matter their background. It is a place of care and community. It’s a shining example of what it means to stand together — to lift each other up in times of need.
How You Can Help Join us in making a difference.
We will be collecting and donating to Food Banks throughout the year so you can bring your donations in all year round.
