Havering Adult College Donates Books and K’Nex Sets to Local Primary School
At Havering Adult College, we are passionate about supporting education at every stage of life. This month, our Teaching Assistant, Early Years and Family Learning Department Manager, Cheryl Dower, was delighted to donate a selection of children’s reading books and K’Nex construction sets to St. Edward’s Church of England School in Romford.
The donation is part of our commitment not only to education but also to sustainability and community support. By rehoming resources that can still spark imagination and creativity, we reduce waste and ensure that more children benefit from materials that might otherwise go unused.
Reading books inspire imagination, build vocabulary, and open doors to knowledge, while K’Nex sets encourage creativity, problem-solving, and STEM skills through play. Staff at St. Edward’s warmly welcomed the resources, which will be used to inspire pupils both in and out of the classroom.
“Thank you, Cheryl and Havering Adult College, in support learning,” said Mr Speller, Head Teacher at St Edward’s. “These donations will give our pupils even more opportunities to learn, build, and grow.”
Cheryl added:
“As part of Havering Adult College, I am proud that we can contribute to the learning journeys of young people in our community. This donation reflects our belief in making the most of resources and sharing them where they are needed most. It’s about helping each other, protecting the environment, and giving every child the chance to thrive.”
Havering Adult College is proud to play a role in supporting young learners in Romford and beyond, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning while promoting sustainability and community spirit.
One last thing. The Havering Daily also published an article about our donation on The Havering Daily website. You can have a read of it HERE
